Willys Pool Closed for Season

Willys Pool is closed for the remainder of the season following an unfortunate incident that transpired in the early morning hours of Wednesday, August 9th.

This morning, pool staff discovered that chairs and equipment were covered in chemical residue, presumably from the fire extinguishers subsequently found in the pool itself. In light of this situation, a comprehensive chemical assessment found the presence of ammonium phosphate, which when combined with chlorine could cause nitrogen trichloride, a highly combustible compound which could potentially cause an explosion.

Chlorine flow has stopped and the pool will be drained beginning tomorrow. While it is unfortunate this incident has cut short the pool's availability for the final weeks of summer, our staff remains committed to providing a safe environment for our swimmers at our other pool locations.
