The Toledo Neighborhood Capacity Building Institute pilot program is a year-long, two-track course designed to build support for neighborhood revitalization.

What You'll Learn
- Mission, vision, bylaw, and policy guidance
- Marketing, communication, fundraising, and grant writing strategy
- How to build a team based on collaboration and partnership, from staffing and board governance to succession planning and leadership development
- The cultural and political history of Toledo, understanding the systems of power, and how to create structure in your community
Who Should Participate
The institute will consist of two tracks, designed to meet the needs of:
- non-profit organizations
- neighborhood associations
- community leaders
Program Framework
Registration
Initial cohort will be invited to apply. 16 participants will be selected to complete the first class.
Institute
The cohort will complete 17 modules over a year, consisting of a mix of virtual sessions and small group meetings.
Graduation
Upon completion of the institute, the cohort will have a formal graduation with recognition from the Mayor and City Council.
Incentives
Outcomes of graduating from the program include:
- foster relationships
- future preference for CDBG funding
- grant awarded for neighborhood project designed within the institute
