Levis Square Park Improvements Public Meeting
The City of Toledo will hold a public meeting, 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., Wednesday, March 18 at Nexus Healthcare, 1415 Jefferson Ave. to present the second phase of improvements planned for Levis Square Park this summer.
Levis Square Park is a roughly three-quarter acre, primarily urban hardscape park located in the core of downtown Toledo near the intersection of St. Clair Street and Madison Avenue. Levis Square Park was developed nearly 50 years ago to serve as an outdoor lobby space for the Owens Corning new world headquarters, now known as the Tower on the Maumee, as well as the Toledo Trust Building and the Riverside Apartments Building.
In recent years, vacancy and subsequent redevelopment of those buildings changed the character of the area and the use of the park. The park has been repurposed as a public asset for that area of downtown. Recent events in the park include Thursday Lunch programs with food trucks and live performances by local artists. Redevelopment of the park is intended to provide a safe and usable public park space to meet the demands of today and the future.
